Nylink: Database Pros and Cons What we like: What we live with: • Enables easy data analysis for staff, members (statistics, activity reports, price tracking) • Facilitates targeted marketing by making it easy to identify groups with common characteristics. • Leads to streamlined workflow for renewals and member communications. • Data can easily be exported to a commercial CRM. • Possible web self-service applications being considered. • Redundant data entry on spreadsheets and other files. • Vendor partners still require different output; there are no standards. • Did I mention data entry? • Only partly linked to other critical sources of information, such as OCLC activity and billing system. • Tricky to set up security parameters, so there is limited staff access
