  1. INNER-OUTER-UPPER-PEACE Phil 4:4-9 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

THE ABUNDANT LIFE • It is God's intent for us to enjoy a peaceful and happy life; which is the abundant life. • Bible peace is not just the absence of discord but the presence of harmony. • Satan uses anger, fear and depression to take away our peace In troubled circumstances • 2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. • “May he rest in peace. Until we meet again”

PERMANENT PEACE? • Mark Twain wrote that from 1500 B.C. to • 1860 A.D. 8,000 permanent peace treaties were signed. • Each treaty lasted an average of two years. • We want our peace in the world. • We want our peace in society. • We want our peace in our work place. • We want peace in this congregation. • We want peace in our families. • We want peace in our marriages. • We want peace within. • Even though we are surrounded by problems and turmoil, we can have peace within and all the above.

  4. PROBLEMS INTERRUPT PEACE? • Day to day problems can interrupt our peace. • John 15:33"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world • The perfect answer to these problems come from God. • We want peace to reign in all phases of our life: • We need a reservoir of God's truth. • We need the Holy Spirit's aid to apply it. • We need God to furnish us opportunities. • We can have a peace that passes understanding • Col 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful

WHAT IS PEACE? • Peace is not appeasement. • Peace is not a way to cooperate with hostility. • It is not possible to be at peace with everyone. • Jesus was at peace within, with God, but not with everyone. • We can go, as far as truth and kindness allow. • Peace is the inner tranquility and poise of a Christian who trusts in God through Christ. • The peace Jesus speaks of combines, trust, a quiet mind and soul by being reconciled to God. • Rom 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace

WE CAN BE AT WAR! • The bible says we have 3 wars in progress. • War within, our spirit against the passions of our body. • A war with others, over things we covet that they have and we want. • Our love affair with things of the world, is enmity, or warfare, with God. • We can easily be a war within and without going somewhere to battle.

  7. THE FRUIT OF INNER FRUSTRATION • Able could not see his murderer anywhere. • He was hidden in his brothers flesh & frustration. • We have problems with peace among nations. • In the Balkans and parts of Africa. • There is genocide, in Aphganistan and Iraq. • People become human bombs to kill others. • Millions now run from murder, torture, and rape. • Thousands are starving. • It's an outward view of a war within man's heart. • The inside war has come outside.

PRISONS KEEP OUT-WARS, IN. • He built “Tombs” a large prison in New York. • We build our own prisons. • Cain was a prisoner of his jealous, hateful, rage and lack of self control. • We could be in the cell next to Cain for lack of control. • Does a mothers womb always contain a precious baby? • Just how precious can 6 lbs and 11 ounces be? • Do cameras click and parents great the first breath & cry? • A war within can turn the womb into a killing field. • Here is a case where a 37 yr old woman lives today. • Christians are God’s peace makers so be about it!

HUMAN HEART POTENTIAL • Here’s our potential inventory of motivation to meet life problems, without God. • Mark 7:21-22 For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. • The natural man is pre-occupied with sex, food, clothing and material things. • He mistakes the means of life for the way of life. • The Holy Spirit’s work in us can be known by our inner peace. • Because our inner peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit

WE ARE READY TO SIGN FOR PEACE! • Our inner enemy refuses to sign a peace treaty. • Remains ready for new attacks on different fronts within. • Pride must bicker to have the last word. • Jealousy has to defend its suspicions. • Selfishness must defend its possessions. • Anger must stock pile ammunition, because there is no peace or compromise in sight. • General pride, the chief commander is ready for battle. • The Christian with insight sees himself, the indwelling Holy Spirit, shows him how God sees him. • Then he makes adjustments to match the will of God

  11. You’ll never see a peaceful joyful selfish person. Peace, joy, & selfish don’t come in the same package. You will never see a joyful person with hate. They don’t ride on the same train. Satan uses anger, fear and depression to rob us of peace. Fear produces the thing feared. 2 Tim 1:7For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Ps.23:4I will fear no evil: for thou art with me. Col. 3:15. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts PEOPLE WE WILL NEVER SEE.

  12. COUPLES LEAVE THE PEACE TABLE. • Warring generals of jealousy, self pity, pride, self interest, and un-forgiveness whisper new maneuvers in their ear. • Warlord Generals reject the terms of humility, forgiveness and love, as terms not acceptable and refuel. • Finally inward frustration brakes into outward hostility. • Verbal shots and abusing threats fill the air • If peace is to reign in a relationship it absolutely must rule in the heart of those relating. • The rules are not complicated. • They must retire their war generals, de-activate their weapons and pursue love and peace. • Psa 29:11.The lord will bless his people with peace.

  13. ALGEBRA APPLIED TO PEACE. • If A is equal to C. A=C • If B is equal to C. B=C • Then A is equal to B. A=B • The premise: If two things are equal to the same thing, they are equal to each other. • If I have a peaceful relationship with the God of peace. • If you have a peaceful relationship with the God of peace. • Then we will have a peaceful relationship with each other. • The premise: If two people are at peace with God, they have a peaceful relationship with each other.

  14. PEACE LIKE A GYPSY ORCHESTRA. • Orchestra composed of men who’ve played their instrument since they were big enough to hold one. • First:Each member masters his own instrument. • Second:Each learns to harmonize with the others. • Third: All play in harmony, with the conductor. who they watch constantly. • First: We learn how to have peace within. • Second: We learn to be at peace with others. • Third: We harmonize our life with God, who watches and blesses us constantly.

  15. DO YOU KNOW? • Your peace was planned by the Father. • Your peace was purchased by the Son. • Your peace was provided by the Holy Spirit. • You can be heir to this, Christ’s legacy. • You can have, Inner-Outer-UpperPEACE! • Which is Thee abundant life!
