  10. What are cells in Excel? • Cells – boxes in a worksheet layout • Active Cell - Where a column and row intersect • Cell Name – By Letter of Column & Number of Row • Example: Cell C3 • Each cell can only have ONE piece of data in it • What do you notice about Column C and Row 3?

  11. How to create a workbook • Open Microsoft Excel • Double Click Desktop Icon • Or…Go to “Start” • “All Programs” • “Microsoft Office” • Click the Excel Icon • Can you name a 3rd way?

  12. How to save a workbook • Go to “File” (Backstage View) • Click “Save” • “Save as…” Dialog Box appears • Be sure to save in YOUR folder • Default name is “Book1” • Rename and click “Save”

  13. Your turn… • Open Excel • Go to “File”  “Save” • Navigate to this location: • Project Drive (S:) Drive • Open - “Stevens_ProbSolv” Folder • Open – “Excel Projects” Folder • Name your workbook this way: • Your Last Name_ID#_Xprj1 • Example: Stevens_348242_Xprj1 • Click “Save”
