  1. Commissioning needs MICO meeting 30 June 2008 MOM (Roumen Tsenov)

  2. Past week (21-29 June) • Second meeting about MICE target operation and machine activation with ISIS people • Activation measurements made before and after 18 hours of continuous running on 20-21 June 2008 for 25400 MICE target actuations at 50 mV BLM readings showed no significant increase of the dose rates. • The program of measurements for the parasitic run on 29/30 was drawn up: -- measure the activity in ISIS as previously with several measurements for the key locations. -- high beam loss investigation with progressive increase of dip depth from readings of BLM in short steps from 50mV up to 300 - 400 mV or so (under Dean Adams’s supervision): record vacuum rise and losses in SS1 and SS7/SS8, and more generally changes in ISIS beam parameters. -- long term (up to 24 hrs) run with 200 mV BLM reading (machine at base rate 50/32 Hz)-- measurement of ISIS activity before and after the run. • Foreseen shifts 29/30 June cancelled due to major Linac component failure on Friday midday, 27.06. Mail from Dean Adams, 30.06.2008, 10:41 BST: Estimates for the Linac repair mean we will not be able to re-establish beams until Friday at the earliest. We will then be required to go straight into the user run. Unfortunately this means that we will have to re-schedule the radiation test and out-gassing test for another time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  3. Past week (cont’d) • New OPN 127 to access the MICE Hall • The essence of the administrative process is as follows. Normally the MICE target is raised and locked out of the beam with the key held by the ISIS Duty Officer (DO). Before the key enabling the target to be lowered can be released allowing the target to be dipped into the beam, the MICE Hall has to be vacated, searched and locked. Thereafter, before any personnel entry into the MICE Hall, the target has to be raised and locked out of the beam.

  4. Past week (cont’d) • TOF0 had arrived and had been mounted on the upstream shielding plate of Q7.

  5. Past week (cont’d) • Cabling of KL - a bridge under construction

  6. This week (30 June – 6 July) • Cabling of KL (bridge + cables laying down) • Domizia Orestano (Rome III) arrives for commissioning of KL • Cabling of TOF0 – to start with
