  1. Was born in Magelang January 20, 1966

  2. Nature is the source of Inspiration in creating a sculpture. Connection between human And nature producing A positive energy. I use this energy intuitively To create my works of art.

  3. The story of Noor Ibrahim….. Noor Ibrahim, or Him, as he is called by his friends. While we both originate from the same city Of Magelang in Central Java, We are from the different generation. I’ve known Ibrahim for a while now. The first sculpture I bought from Noor Ibrahim Was entitled “Ancient Animal” And was made from unpainted wood. According to Ibrahim, this wood could resist Rain damage and thus could be placed outside. After the sculpture stood outside for several Years, the sculpture started to rot. It turn out that what Ibrahim advised was wrong.

  4. His lack of knowledge about wood disappointed me. He paid me back by fixing the sculpture, Painting it with striking colors of red, white and blue. Now this sculpture serves as a guardian to my house And is located close to my front door. This location is better than my original one, as it is Under the roof so as not to be rained upon or in Direct contact with the sun. After this experience I heard that Ibrahim had left The sculpting profession to become a seller of antiques, Sculpture and painting. He often tried to sell these paintings to me, but I never found one that matched my tastes. More often than not, these paintings were doubtful in quality. It was then that I realized that artists and art experts Are two very different things.

  5. Because he wasn’t successful with this new profession, Ibrahim came back to his natural profession of sculptor. This time, however, his medium of sculpture had Changed from wood to bronze, stainless steel and Sheet metal that he folds and pounds into Various deformed figures. Ibrahim discovered this style of sculpture by change. He once told me the story of one day when he asked His daughter and wife to not disturb him in his work. They left Ibrahim to be alone in the house so that He could concentrate. Ibrahim worked the whole night without any results. As his frustration grew he started to hit the sculpture He was working on and threw it outside the house, Falling asleep soon after. In the early morning someone passing by returned The sculpture to Ibrahim’s house.

  6. When Ibrahim’s wife and child came, he was woken Up by their comment on how good his new sculpture was. From this experience Ibrahim’s new style was born. When he attended the exhibition entitled “Not Just the Political” in the Museum H. Widayat in Mungkid Magelang, I was quite surprised with the development Of Ibrahim’s new work. One of the sculptures he brought to Magelang was Donated to our Museum with the title “Art begins here”. When I asked what he meant by this, he said that If his work was set here, the development and journey Of it would successful. At the same time he brought Out a more impressive sculpture of a women facing the wind Made from stainless steel called “Against the wind”. I immediately bought this and it is now placed on the Roof of our Museum. I sincerely hope that Ibrahim’ vision Of “Art begins here” comes true. (Oei Hong Djien)
