He was not so well now in his day. • Dearth • Scarcity that makes dear • During a famine, food is dearth • Elucidate • To give a clarifying explanation • One sentence is not enough to elucidate about a main topic.

  3. Tuesday, January 5 Power words DLP Scholars think that Shakespeares father was a businessman who also served in the local government. We know hardly nothing about Shakespeare's life. • Elicit • To call forth or draw out • Her remarks elicited cheers • Taciturn • Temperamentally disinclined to talk • Mobsters are taciturn in the courtroom.

Although we don’t know much about Shakespeare’s life we do know he was married and had three children. • Innocuous • Producing no injury; harmless • Water is an innocuous fluid • Innate • Existing in, belonging to, or determined by factors present in an individual from birth. • Blonde hair is an innate trait.

By that time however Shakespeare already had a reputation as an actor and play-wright. • Tacit • Expressed or carried on without words or speech. • Her anger was tacit. • Sycophant • A servile self-seeking flatterer • A sycophant is not a person who shows good manners.

  6. Friday, January 8 Power Words DLP Shakespeare worked real hard and built the globe theatre. He wrote 37 plays 154 sonnets and several long poems. • Effigy • An image or representation especially of a person • Calling someone a scrooge is to speak of them in effigy. • Embellish • To make beautiful with ornamentation; decorate. • I love to embellish my scrapbook pages.
