THANKS GIVING • Iniquity of unthankful ness • 2 Tim 3. 2-4 For men shall be covetous, blasphemous, unthankful, unholy, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors • Thus unthankful ness is listed with the above. • We sometimes, condemn the 9 lepers who were unthankful but at times, we fall in to that category. 13

  4. THANKS GIVING • HOW TO HAVE A THANKFUL HEART? • JAMES 1.17 EVERY GOOD GIFT AND EVERY PERFECT GIFT IS FROM ABOVE AND COMETH FROM THE FATHER OF LIGHTS • WHEN YOU REALISE THAT EVERY THING YOU HAVE COMES FROM GOD THEN YOU WILL FEEL REAL GRATITUDE TO GOD IN YOUR HEART. 12

THANKS GIVING • FOR WHAT SHOULD WE BE THANKFUL? • EPH 5.20 GIVING THANKS ALWAYS FOR ALL THINGS UNTO GOD AND THE FATHER IN THE NAME OF LORD JESUS CHRIST. • HOW TO ABOUND IN THANKS GIVING? • PSA 100.4 ENTER INTO HIS GATES WITH THANKSGIVING UNTO HIM AND BLESS HIS NAME. • WHY SHOULD BE THANKFUL? • JOB 10.12 THOU HAST GRANTED ME LIFE AND FAVOUR AND THY VISITATION HATH PRESERVED MY SPIRIT. 11

  6. THANKS GIVING • Giving thanks for every thing • 1 Thes 5.18 In every thing give thanks. For this is the will of God concerning you. • Eph 5.20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ • It is the duty of God’s children • Psa 26.7 David giving thanks for the wondrous works of God • Nehemiah dedicated the wall of Jerusalem with thanksgiving, appointing two great companies to give thanks 10

THANKS GIVING • Apostles who suffered persecution gave thanks that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for Jesus name • Paul was in peril of his life in Damascus • Coldly suspected by fellow believers in Jerusalem • Persecuted at Antioch • Stoned in Lystra • Assaulted at Iconinum • Beaten with may stripes and put in jail at Phillippi • Persecuted by lewd and envious crowd at Thessalonica 9

THANKS GIVING • Persecuted by enmity and jealous at Berea • Despised in Athens • Blasphemed at Corinth • Exposed to fierce wrath of Ephesians • Bound with chain in Jerusalem • Imprisoned in Rome • Finally beheaded • Yet was thankful to the Lord and exhorted all of us to be thankful to God at all times 8

THANKS GIVING • In 1923 great earthquake affected Japan. 45,000 square miles, 5 big cities and a population of 7 million (70 lakhs) and every building in Yokohama was destroyed. ¾ of Tokyo was burnt and entire city of 5 million (50 lakhs) were affected. 300,000 (3 lakhs) died and 2-1/2 million (25 lakhs) were homeless. America sent a great help to suffering Japanese to the tune of 45 crores of Indian Rupees to which Japan gave in writing “we will never forget your help” But in December 1941 Japanese airplanes brought death and destruction to Pearl Harbor • Jer 2.32 My people have forgotten me days without number 7

  10. THANKS GIVING • JOB SAID LIKE THIS “THOU HAST GRANTED ME LIFE AND I AM YET ALIVE. ALL HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM ME IT WOULD SEEM, EXCEPT LIFE. BUT AS LONG AS I HAVE LIFE I WILL WORSHIP GOD AND HONOUR GOD • WE NEED TO THANK THE LORD FOR GRANTING US SOUND BODIES, SOUND MIND, SOUND JOB AND SOUND MINISTRY. • WHAT IS THE GREATEST BLESSING IN OUR LIFE? • 2 COR 9.15 THANKS BE UNTO GOD FOR HIS UNSPEAKABLE GIFT. • THE WORD, HIS MERCY ENDURETH FOR EVER OCCURS 26 TIMES IN PSALMS 136 AND 11 OTHER TIMES IN REST OF THE SCRIPTURES. 6

  11. THANKS GIVING • Solomon finished the building of the temple and thereafter when the dedication was being conducted, they said, His mercy endureth for ever. At that time, God blessed them by giving shekinah glory in the holy of holies (2 Chr 5.13) • Once, the ark of the covenant was removed from Israel and Philistines took the ark of covenant to Gath, Ekron and Ashdod for years the ark of the covenant had been gone. When David brought it back he was glad and danced saying His mercy endureth for ever. (1 Chr 16.41) 5

  12. THANKS GIVING • After the destruction of the temple, and at the end of 70 years of captivity God burdened Zerubbabel asking the Israelites to return and rebuild the temple. God’s people started to rebuild and shouted to the Lord saying, His mercy endureth for ever (Ezra 3.11) • Do you know God will be merciful to you as long as you live? When young people get old, the mercy of the Lord will still endure. If you pass by 70s, 80s and 90s, His mercy still endures for ever. 4

  13. THANKS GIVING • Forgiveness of sin is a great blessing (Psa 136.3) J.P. Morgan multi million financier did not rejoice in his stocks, bonds, steam ships and banks, but in the blessed truth that he has found peace and forgiveness of sins through Lord Jesus Christ. • Queen Victoria, once monarch of Great Britain, when sun never set on the British possessions, and at the highest point of British career, stood to her feet during the singing of Hallelujah chorus, a song of redemption. 3

  14. THANKS GIVING • We need to be thankful because He healeth all thy diseases. • God heals through Doctors and He can heal without doctors. Some times, God heals through medicine and at other times in spite of the medicines. At other times, God heals by simple faith inspired by the true teaching of the Word of God. • Psa 136.4 who redeemeth thy life from destruction. • Psa 34.7 The angels of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him and delivered them 2

  15. THANKS GIVING • Psa 91.11, 12 He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, best thou dash thy foot against the stone. • It is true that God has a time for believers to die. It is equally true that Satan cannot bring one of God’s children to death without God’s consent. Even though God allowed Satan to bring great trouble to Job, Satan could not touch his life. God preserves the lives of His saints. 1

THANKS GIVING • Psa 136.4 It is God who crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies. • King could not sleep and while reading the chronicles, Mordacai was brought up and honored. • Psa 136.5 Bless the Lord who satisfies thy mouth with good things. • Neh 8. 10 Nehemiah said, God and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. 0
