Introduction • Acquisition of information sources - organisation • Consortia for acquisition of electronic souces • Currently there is Center for online databases, a project of Ministry of science, education and sport, Institute Rudjer Boskovic and CARNet – not a formal consortia, but a consortial database usage with no libraries’ in the system coordination • University and faculty/institute’s holding types Acquisition

Goal and purpose • Cooperative / consortial acquisition • All types of information sources according to the university curricula • Cooperative development and administration of relevant holding and collection (physical and virtual) • Active support in learning and research and development processes at the university (according to the Bologna declaration) Acquisition

  4. Expected results • Contribution to the study quality at the University of Zagreb • Scientific production and quality increase • Usage and number of new information sources increase, their availability and access possibilities for all university system members • More intense inclusion and Croation authors recognition in the world’s scientific production, citation in the secundary publications • Informed, educated and content users Acquisition

Holding types – University library • Collection development coordination • Print and e-versions (text books and curricula references) • Master thesis and doctoral dissertations collection and special reference collection • Support to all curricula at the university (undergraduate, graduate and doctoral study), and research projects at the university Acquisition

Holding types - Faculty/institute library • Central information centre for specific field • Holding type: general and specific • Develops and mantains central collection • Develops and mantains master thesis and doctoral disertations collection • Serial acqusition for all departments • Informs central university libarary about most important and demanded titles for particular study groups including new study programmes (according to the Bologna declaration) Acquisition

  9. Holding types – Department library • Holding type: specific • Holds special collection: • Compusory exam and textbook literature and specific collection according to the curricula or scientific field • Special collection of journals and reference literature Acquisition

Consortium for e-resources acquisition Accepts, verifies Expert committee lists according to the available funds; Coordinates requests of all universities; Approves final acquisition proposal; Signs licence agreements with publishers. Steering committee Licencing process–information flow - Selects and negotiates with publishers, accepts the best offers. Negotiation committee Collects, evaluates, selects and passes lists to the Steering committee. Expert committee Acquisition
