Over 65% of Indonesians live on three of the largest islands, Java, Madura, and Bali. These three islands only make up 7% of the 735,355 sq. miles that make up Indonesia. We’re Toddlers!

The six diseases listed on the previous slide are all communicable diseases. There are on-going efforts to reduce the prevalence of these diseases however the process is extremely slow. In 1998 the expenditure on health care was 2.5% and the GDP was $1.3 billion. The .5% increase over 7 years has helped however, only 43% of children that are the poorest fifth of the country have been vaccinated against diseases such as Diphtheria, Measles, and Mumps, while 72% of the richest fifth has been vaccinated against these diseases.
