  2. PaleoIndians • They lived 10,000 BC • They are the earliest known culture. • They invented the atlatl • They lived in groups of 25 to 50 people • They followed mammoths around for food

  3. Archaic Indians • 8,000 to 1000 BC • They started out hunting big animals then they moved to smaller ones • It went from cold weather in their earlier years until hotter in their later years • They started to fish and they created axis to cut down trees

  4. Woodland Indians • 1000 BC to 1000 • They contributed bows and arrows • They started to build villegas • They were the first to grow crops • They started to have memorials for the dead • They started to believe in religion

  5. Mississippian Indians • 700 to 1600 • They were located on the Mississippi river • They were very religious • They were famous for tattooing themselves • In the 1600s they mysteriously disappeared • It may be due to diseases, enemies and migration
