  3. Reading • Reading Log • Response Cards • White Boards • Vocabulary • Game day

  4. Reading • Reading Log– Students read for 30 min. every night. They can read anything. Some examples are: • Newspaper • Bible • Novel • Comic books • Books they read to their children • Online gossip magazines • Outdoor Sportsmen magazines

  5. Reading • Response Cards- consistently obtain greater student participation • Multiple choice • Yes/No questions • Punctuation • Homophones

  6. Reading • White Boards – Another form of response cards. We use white boards for reviewing different reading activities. Such as: • Sequencing • Story Elements • Drawing Conclusions • Cause and effect

  11. Reading • Vocabulary – Students are given vocabulary words every week and complete activities with these words.

  12. One of the strategies we use for teaching vocabulary is Robert Marzano’s Building Academic Vocabulary.

  13. We also use whiteboards to introduce vocabulary.

  14. Reading • Game Day Friday –Last hour of class on Friday we play games that focus on words. • Pictionary • Cranium • Boggle • Scrabble • Taboo

  16. Math • Math Drills– Students have 1 minute to complete 32 math problems. • Adding • Subtracting • Multiplying
