Entry- Level Jobs • Requirements vary from state to state • May need training in CPR, fire safety, abuse detection and prevention, etc • Maryland requires 90 hours of training in order to work in a child care center, or have an in home day care service • Maryland requires teacher aides to have 2 years of college.

  6. Professional – Level Jobs • Four year degree is needed to be a teacher or director of a child care center

Personal Qualities Needed • Able and willing to be a good role model • Able to demonstrate love • Healthy sense of humor • Knowledge of child development • Good health • Physical stamina • Emotional stability • Flexible • Creatively • Resourceful • Organized • Patience • Positive attitude • Good money manager – as salaries are often low and turn over is high
