Each student will have a group leader as a first point of contact The group leader will be responsible for registering them and overseeing any problems they have This does not mean that students will not mix with students from other groups During the day students will need to be in groups of 4-6 Groups Group leaders will be the following staff: Mrs Burton Miss Gadd Ms Foster Mr Lawrence Mr Southcoat Mr Gladas Mr Sycamore Ms Titchmarsh Ms Kent Mrs Davidson

  7. Food • Breakfast: 7 - 9 am depending on the day’s activities (bread, preserves, cereals & fruit juice) • Dinner: 6pm – 7pm (usually a buffet dinner with pasta/potato options, a meat option, a veggie option, vegetables. Fruit for desert.) • The hotel has our special dietary information • Our booking is full board – we will get a simple packed lunch for the days we need it.

  8. Students must bring theirpassports and EHIC cards and hand them in to the leader of their coach when we set off. Mobile phones to be brought at own risk Ipods / MP3s useful for coach journeys, and camera for taking pictures, but carried at own risk Valuables and Passports

  9. Drinks each day (bottled water) Souvenir / gift money It is a good idea to have some spare euros for use of toilets at tourist sites Money

  10. Items to pack • WELLIES (for the trenches) in a SEPARATE named bag. • Sensible shoes (there is lots of walking around) • Sensible clothing (short skirts and t-shirts when it’s likely to be rainy = not a good idea) comfortable trousers and jumpers especially for the trenches. • Suncream (although this trip is normally in muddy wet weather, we have been caught out in previous years with glorious sunshine!) • Alcohol gel, wet wipes and tissues • Plasters in case of blisters and insect repellent • Any medication • TOWELS (hotel does not provide) • Toiletries • Bottle to fill each day (to save carrying large mineral water bottles) • Waterproof • Sun shades and sun hat • Travel adaptor (straighteners/hairdryers brought at own risk) • Rucksack (not a tiny handbag!) to carry water, lunches, suncream… • Only one luggage bag is allowed, and one carry-on-the-coach bag • PACKED LUNCH (and breakfast if you need it) for Thursday DON’T pack your passport or ALL of your Euros in your hold bag

  11. Rooms are in 2s, 3s, 4s and 6s We will try to keep girls and boys on separate floors. Staff will be evenly spread across the floors. Accommodation • All students attending the trip have been allocated rooms based on the meeting held before the Summer Holiday. • If you have forgotten your room, you can check with us at the end of the meeting. • There will be NO SWAPPING now that rooms are set.

No sharing mobile numbers with strangers No fewer than 4 in a group at all times No more than 6 in a group at any time Follow all instructions No entering rooms that are not your own (especially boys / girls into rooms of the opposite gender…) Respect staff instructions Be courteous at all times Rules

Thursday 19th September • We will meet at CVC at 6.45am…to leave at 7.15am (passports and pack ups!) • Two coaches will take us to the Eurotunnel and beyond, our crossing will be at about 10.50am. • Approx 12.25pm arrive in Calais, travel to Ypres Salient for the following visits 2/2.30pm: Passchendaele Museum includes a new underground museum focusing on the Battle of Passchendaele with open air trenches and a remembrance gallery. • Continue to Hotel Munchenhof for approx. 5.30pm • 6pm, evening meal at hotel

  14. Breakfast at 8am VimyRidge – self guided tour Newfoundland Park – Guided tours Theipval Memorial LochnagarCrater (each coach may mix up the order that they attend the different areas as then we spread out the number of us at each site) Dinner at hotel at 6.30pm Friday 20th September

  15. Breakfast at 8am 9am depart accommodation with packed lunch (and all luggage) Sanctuary Wood Museum (Hill 62) 11.30am In Flanders Fields Museum (Ypres) Possible time for souvenir shopping in Ypres 1pm depart Ypres for journey to port 2.30pm check in at Eurotunnel, depart approx 3.50pm Approx 3.25pm local time, arrive Folkstone, continue to school Arrive back in Comberton at approx 6pm If we are running significantly early/late, we will use the phone tree to inform parents of estimated arrival time. Saturday 21st September

  16. Finally… • Check your passport is in date!! • Check your EHIC card is in date • Euros – we won’t spend lots of time buying souvenirs so you don’t need hundreds! • Check phone tree details today. If there are any mistakes, let Mrs Burton know, the master copy will be edited and relevant contacts on the tree will be informed of the change.
