  2. The Fairies'legends According to a legend the waterfall rapresents an open door on the “other world”. Once upon a time a fairy drank from a stream which was going into the lake of Piediluco and from the same stream she knew about her love destiny. She was destined to the god of Sun and in fact, she met him and she was his bride on the summer longest day. The next day the Sun disappeared and the fairy, who couldn’t live without him, walked along the stream to the lake where she became water herself, and vanished forever into the world of nature. Another legend says that the shepherds during the summer festivities of the waterfall, welcomed the fairies who,in order to dance with the shepherds, had secretly escaped from the “Fairies’Cave” (situated south of the Vettore mountain ). The fairies could remain with men only during the night.
