  1. Leviticus 18 Holy Union (commandments against pan-sexuality)

  2. Leviticus 18 “1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. 3You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. 4You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the Lord your God. 5Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord. 6“‘No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the Lord. 7“‘Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her. Do not have sexual relations with your sister …

  3. 22“‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman;that is detestable. 23“‘Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion. 24“‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. 25Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26But you must keep my decrees and my laws.” – Leviticus 18

  4. Biblical truths about sex and sexuality • Sex is a good gift from God, to be enjoyed within the holy matrimony (marriage) of a man and a woman. • Our Sexuality is an integral part of our Identity (Body, Soul, Spirit). • Sex is no mere physical act. It brings about a spiritual communion and is also the expression of a mystery: the union of Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:32-33).

  5. Biblical truths about sex and sexuality • But like any good gift (such as relationships, food, wealth, intelligence, etc), sex can be • mis-used and abused – thereby turning the good gift into a poison (harming self and others).

  7. Egyptian Book of Dreams • If a man sees himself in a dream: • Having interc______ with his mother – Good. His companions will stick to him. • Having interc______ with his sister – Good. It means he will inherit something.

  8. Hitite Law 1999 “If anyone has interc_____ with a pig or a dog, he shall die. If a man has interc_____ with a horse or a mule, there is no punishment. …”

  9. 22“‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman;that is detestable.

  10. “Pan-sexuality” The word “pan” in Greek means “all”. Therefore pan-sexuality means “all forms of sexuality, sexual expression or activity are acceptable.”

  11. In ancient Greece, pederasty was institutionalized and reserved for free citizens. [Pederasty from the Greek words pais (boy) and erastes (love)]. It was considered to be a cultural ideal.

  12. Within Greek philosophy, there were arguments that the love of a man for a man is socially superior than the love of a man for a woman, because she was socially inferior.

  13. Plato’s Symposium (a philosophical text dating back to 385-380BC) – “it was best to have an ‘army of lovers’ who would fight harder to protect and impress each other.”

  14. “24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is for ever praised. Amen. 26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.” – Romans 1:24-26

  15. “19Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and the like …” – Gal 5:19-21

  16. “Sexual Revolution” in the West Public & Hardcore Pornography Public Nudity Easy Contraception Legalization of Abortion Normalization of Pre-marital sex Push for alternative forms of sexuality

  17. “Free Love” – a movement that rejects marriage, which is seen as a form of social and financial bondage.

  18. “Free Love” – a movement that rejects marriage, which is seen as a form of social and financial bondage. What followed in society was an increase in pre-marital sex, promiscuity, co-habitation, adultery, and a higher rate of divorces.

  19. Modern-day Homosexuality in the West Disease(late 19th century till 1973)

  20. Modern-day Homosexuality in the West Disease  Decision

  21. Modern-day Homosexuality in the West Disease  Decision Problem: “homophobia” is defined as encompassing a range of emotions from discomfort to prejudice to hatred.

  22. Modern-day Homosexuality in the West Disease  Decision Negative feelings about homosexuality is then equated to racism.

  23. The 2 reasons why young people are attracted to the side of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) cause: • Sense of Fair Play • Sympathy in their stories

  24. Modern-day Homosexuality in the West Disease  Decision (“my choice”)  Design (“I have no choice”)

  25. Gay Gene ? Really? Is it really Science?

  26. Gay Gene ? The majority of serious scientists in the field of genetics believe that probably the so-called gay gene does not exist, simply because they believe that one gene can never fully determine the behavior of human beings.

  27. “Examining the Scientific Evidence for Homosexuality – Born Gay?” Dr John Tay aimed to answer the question – “Is a person born gay?” by objectively reviewing 20 years of high-quality research papers published in reputable international journals.

  28. A shortened version of Dr Tay’s conclusion : • Sexual orientation is not genetically caused (like one’s skin or eye color). There is strong evidence that sexual orientation can be very fluid. • The development of homosexuality appears to be multi-factorial, with early hormonal effects possibly contributing but being neither necessary nor sufficient, while psycho-social factors remain crucially important.

  29. A shortened version of Dr Tay’s conclusion : • Based on overwhelming scientific evidence,Environmental factors are more important than genetic ones. • There is abundant evidence that gays can change their sexual orientation.

  30. Dr Ravi Zacharias

  31. Dr Ravi Zacharias ABC News journalist to Dr Zacharias: “… But when it comes to the homosexual, you Christians discriminate against him, so how does that happen? You are against racism but you discriminate against the homosexual – why is it so?”

  32. Dr Ravi Zacharias Dr Zacharias: “Sexuality is a sacred gift. We don't violate that either. So you have to tell me – why do you treat race as sacred and you de-sacralize sexuality?”

  33. G K Chesterton – “Why the 10 commandments, because your word is sacred, your home is sacred, your marriage is sacred, your time is sacred, your life is sacred; if you de-sacralize any of these things, you would have ended up with a profane way of living. The tragedy of dis-believing in God is not that the person ends up believing in nothing, alas it is much worse, the person may end up believing in anything.”

  34. Gays are made, not born that way. However it doesn’t mean that all gays have a choice, to choose whether they would become gay or not.

  35. The reasons for homosexuality show that far too often, sin is in the picture, and sin makes the choice for the person. What are the reasons for homosexuality, if not design ?

  36. Factors contributing to the development of homosexuality: • Certain in-born characteristics • Growing up environment • Sexual sins against them • Sexual temptations • Emotional issues

  37. Kerala, India

  38. Kerala, India • Mr A believed it started after he was molested several times by a male family friend.

  39. Factors contributing to the development of homosexuality: • Certain in-born characteristics • Growing up environment • Sexual sins against them • Sexual temptations • Emotional issues

  40. Homosexuality is often caused by other sins (abandonment by the father, mockery by people, molest, rape, sexual experimentation lured by someone of the same gender, deception that it is an acceptable sexual lifestyle, etc). • We need to fight such sins! • God loves all people, including those who are homosexuals, and God wants to give them His grace to live the abundant life, which does not include homosexuality.

  42. Modern-day Homosexuality in the West Disease  Decision  Design  Democratic value (it’s positioned as the New Cause for Democracy)

  43. What will our children and youths think about it? • Will they be influenced to think it is normal and perhaps for them?

  44. What can we do? How shall respond? • Pray(pray regularly against the spiritual forces that are stirring societies to move towards pan-sexuality, away from God’s design for sex, that it is holy only within the marriage of a man and a woman).

  45. What can we do? How shall respond? • Pray(pray regularly against the spiritual forces that are stirring societies to move towards pan-sexuality, away from God’s design for sex, that it is holy only within the marriage of a man and a woman). • Be certain of our own convictions.

  46. What can we do? How shall respond? • Pray • Be certain of our own convictions. • Teach our children and youths God’s design for sex.(Be bold to address this issue. Don’t leave it to their friends, or the media or the Internet, or even their school to teach your children what you should teach them from the Bible.)

  47. What can we do? How shall respond? • Pray • Be certain of our own convictions. • Teach our children and youths God’s design for sex. • Share the Gospel with all.(Introduce them to Jesus Christ, who loves them, and would grant them the abundant life.)

  48. What can we do? How shall respond? • Pray • Be certain of our own convictions. • Teach our children and youths God’s design for sex. • Share the Gospel with all. • Do not reject homosexuals (LGBT).(Especially those who are struggling with it – help them find support and not condemnation in the church, as they work through their struggles.)
