  2. Presidents have many, many responsibilities and many different roles. In these roles, it can be said that the president wears several different ‘hats’. Briefly, here are the seven roles the president fills…

  3. Chief of State As Chief of State, the president fulfills ceremonial duties, and acts as the leader of the U.S.

  4. Chief Executive The president is in charge of the employees that work in the Executive branch.

  5. Chief Diplomat The president meets with leaders of other countries to conduct business and make agreements.

  6. Commander-in-Chief The president is the leader of all US armed forces.

  7. Chief Legislator The president can sign and veto laws passed by Congress.

  8. Chief of Party The president is the highest ranking member of his party in the country, so he works to help get other party members elected or re-elected.

  9. Watchdog of the Economy The president is responsible for keeping an eye on the country’s job rate and help control inflation. He submits a budget each year to Congress.
