The “Dorsal” Thalamus • Sensory integration nucleus – gateway to the cerebral cortex • Afferents from both rostral and caudal central nervous system structures • Efferents primarily to cerebral cortex via four principal “radiations” • Associated with motor, sensory, limbic and vegetative functions
