Program Manager This position supports the mission of the BWH Biomedical Research Institute (“BRI”), established to synergize, facilitate and enable research activities in the hospital setting; provide a clear voice and a strong identity for the research community; and create new funding opportunities to sustain the research enterprise. This requires a high degree of confidence, finesse and political acumen to be successful. http://www.bwhbri.partners.org

Program Manager- Qualifications and skills • Graduate degree in science + 3-5 years experience in an academic medical center or university setting • Knowledge and understanding of administrative and research activities • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse constituency inside and outside the organization • Demonstrated ability to facilitate discussions and obtain cooperation and support from a diverse group of scientific leaders, research investigators, hospital administrators and colleagues • Must independently resolve most problems encountered while working collaboratively and effectively in teams, emphasizing communication, collegiality, flexibility, trust and patience • Candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, work independently and as a member of a team (sometimes with little supervision). Time-management, multitasking and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, developing organization are essential. http://www.bwhbri.partners.org

  12. What does a Program Manager DO? • Facilitates and manages the activities of the Biomedical Research Institute’s Center Working Groups which provide Center leadership and determine Center priorities. Facilitates relationships between Centers and Programs. • Plans meetings, conferences, seminars, retreats, (etc). Manage design and delivery of programs, seminars, symposia, workshops, speaker series, and programs to foster development and function of thematic centers. • Works with the Portal Coordinator to ensure that each Center and Program has the web presence and intranet tools needed to define itself to internal and external audiences. http://www.bwhbri.partners.org
