  2. NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS • 37% OF SOFTWARE COPIES THAT CAME WITH NEW PCs LAST YEAR HAVE THESE PROBLEMS: • 12% could not be installed • 22% could not be activated • 20% hadn’t been properly licensed • 11% came with malware

WHAT ARE THE COSTS OF ENTERPRISES? • Here are some of the costs face by businesses dealing with malware: • Labor costs of rectifying security problems • Costs a third-party support in dealing with problems • Employee downtime • Cost to reinstall lost data • Costs of data theft as a result of planted malware • Costs of fraud from theft of credentials or records

THE COST OF DATA BREACHES • In the case of TJX, 45.6 45.6 million customer credit card records worth $256 million are stolen by cybercriminals. • In the Ponemon Institute’s 2011 Cost of a Data Breach Study: United States. $222 per leaked record and 50% of the data breaches from outsiders were from malware.
