  4. Exploitation of UID data will be tied to emerging systems, business practices and procedures. To reap benefits of UID, Army must move beyond simple marking of its assets. Army must integrate UID data into its logistics-related information systems to enable all echelons of command to view the same data. UID CANNOT be implemented without necessary funding for AIT infrastructure, AIS mods and communications network upgrades Outreach to suppliers is critical. DCMA role is understated. Once fully implemented, UID will provide an unprecedented Joint data capability that will contribute to information dominance on the battlefield. BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT B. B.   10. Tactical, operational and strategic commanders will be able to share the same asset identification, cost, configuration and location data. UID data will lessen the cost of generating and sustaining forces without reducing warfighting capabilities and readiness. The DoD central UID Registry will be capable of being linked to dynamic Army decision support systems. UID supports all DoD Serialized Item Management (SIM) applications. Organic repair depots and arsenals will use UID data as a means to troubleshoot production problems, manage configurations, and restore inherent equipment reliability when unacceptable Mean Time Between Failures are discovered.
