What’s a Subject Librarian? • Selects books, journals and other resources • Assists faculty and students in finding library resources for research • Provides instruction on research strategies, focusing a topic, citing sources, evaluating information and more… • Available in person, email, phone, IM, chat

  6. Borrowing Materials • Your OU ID card is your library card • Use your OU ID to borrow books from any OhioLINK library! • Books - Quarter Loan (for grads) • Unlimited renewals • DVD’s – 1 week loan, 1 week renewal

OhioLINK borrowing • Request online from Alice online catalog • Average 3 business days delivery time • Can check delivery status from Alice • (Your Library Record) • Pick up at Circulation Desk, Music Library, or pick up anywhere Ohio-wide • Can renew 4 times online • Caveat: Fines are high, return when due!

  8. Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery • Login in to ILLIAD with PID • Access the libraries of the world (Worldcat) • Document Delivery for OU-owned items articles and book chapters (not available online). • Most items will be delivered in PDF via ILLIAD login.

  9. Course Reserves • Books, pamphlets, videos, etc. which are kept at Alden Library's Circulation Desk (4th floor) • Limited loan periods designated by the instructor • Electronic reserves available in PDF for some items • Search by course name and instructor’s last name first

  10. RefWorks • Manage bibliographies with ease • Whatever the format: APA, MLA, Chicago…. • Keep citations in related folders • Import citations from many databases • Login anywhere, anytime • Watch for library workshops
