Parent Council Objectives • Work in partnership with school to create an inclusive welcoming school • Promote partnership between, the school its pupils and parents • Develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils • Identify and represent the views of all parents with regards the education and welfare of the pupils

  7. What do we discuss & action? • Curriculum for Excellence • Parental Involvement • Communicating with parents • School improvement plan • Behaviour policy • Report cards • How Good Is Our School

  8. Why? • Discussing ‘How good is our School’ - June. • Parental Involvement – ideas. • What about a day where parents come into school and talk about their jobs? • Suggested that we could organise and run over a week. • Alison Irvine – Head Teacher agreed to a week in November.

  9. Organising • Sub-Group – 2/3 people planning. • Discussions over summer on outline for week. • Agreed with school at start of term. • Letters asking from help from parents, via school. • More detailed planning. • Approached others to help (EA, RBS, Tesco……). • Regular updates with Head Teacher.

  13. Was it a success? • 30 parents directly involved in school activities • Enjoyed by all (Children, Teachers, Parents & Visitors). • Good Press – Telegraph, Largs &Millport, & TES. • School happy to repeat next year.
