Aka the windpart of the name • The player covers holes in the instrument to make the air travel further through the instrument and lower the pitch- similar to our recorders! • Piccolo • Flute • Clarinet • Oboe • Bassoon

  4. Piccolo and Flute • Open Hole • The player blows through a tone hole, causing the air to vibrate inside the instrument and creating the sound • The highest members of the woodwind family

  8. The single reeds • Clarinets and Saxophones • The player blows into the mouthpiece, causing the reed to vibrate • The vibrating reed then makes the air inside the instrument vibrate and produces the sound
