  13. Plan View An orthographic projection of the building or site on a horizontal plan. Orthographic projection is a projection of the features of an object onto an imaginary plane of projection.   18. Sections and Details Section: A type of drawing depicting an object as if it had been cut through to show the interior construction Detail: An enlargement of a specific area of a structure that is drawn where several components intersect or where small members are required

Renderings Purpose: To add an element of realism with the use of shades, shadows, and textures that would not otherwise be present Materials Used: Pencil, ink, water colors, marker, tempera, colored pencil, appliqué / overlay, and air brush Types: Exterior and interior perspective, elevations, plot plan, floor plan, and sections

  20. Specifications Purpose: Provides the necessary written information to describe the materials, methods, and fixtures used in the design project

  21. 3D Models Purpose: To represent the final design in a physical form that is as realistic as possible, computer-generated or fabricated Advantage: Can be moved around and viewed from any angle; show interior and exterior details; the addition of scaled objects (people, furniture, vehicles) gives visual clues as to the actual size
