AVID Mission • The mission of AVID is to ensure that all students, especially students in the middle with academic potential, capable of completing a college prep path will: • Succeed in the most rigorous curriculum • Enter mainstream activities of the school • Increase their enrollment in four-year colleges and universities, and • Become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society.

  4. AVID Results • AVID has grown from a single classroom in one school to more than 1200 schools in 21 states and 14 foreign countries, enrolling more than 65,000 students. • Since 1990, more than 30,000 AVID students have graduated high school and gone on to a 4-year college or university.

  10. Profile of an AVID student: • Potential to attend and succeed in a 4-year university • Will benefit from support and guidance • Willing to work hard at home and at school • Willing to take rigorous courses • Motivated and disciplined

  11. How to join AVID: • Potential students identified by Site Team. • Attend informational meeting. • Parent & students agree to apply. • Sign up for interview. • Interviews with Site Team members held at school. • A letter will be sent indicating acceptance into the program for next year.
