UNU in Iceland • UNU – Geothermal Training Programme • Established 1979 - over 450 graduates • Capacity building within geothermal exploration and development • Six months training in Iceland • Short courses in developing countries • M.Sc. And Ph.D. scholarships • UNU – Fisheries Training Programme • Established 1998 - over 220 graduates • Various fields within fisheries, drawing on both academia and industry • Six months training in Iceland • Short courses in developing countries • M.Sc. And Ph.D. scholarships • UNU – Land Restoration Training Programme • Established 2010 – 6 graduates in the first year of operation • Restoration of degraded land and sustainable land management

GEST Programme – Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme • Pilot project from 2009 • Aims to join the UNU family • Aims to “promote gender equality and women's empowerment through education and training” • Focus on developing countries, fragile and conflict affected states • Is preparing a curriculum on gender and environmental sustainability and climate change

  10. Gender Sensitive Budgeting • Pilot project in 2010 • Bilateral aid through multilaterals and NGOs in 2009 evaluated • OECD/DAC´s Gender Equality Policy Marker used • 2009 will form a baseline for coming years
