  2. Selena Quintanilla-Pérez Selena was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was the youngest of three. She had an older sister named Suzette Quintanilla and an older brother named Abraham Quintanilla. Selena Quintanilla es de Texas. Selena esmexicana. Selena esbuena.

  3. Selena’s Education Selena’s travel schedule interfered with school, so her father took her out of school when she was in eighth grade. At the age of seventeen she received her high school diploma from the American School Program.

  4. Selena’s Accomplishments Selena was the best selling Latin artist of the decade by Billboard for her fourteen top-ten singles in the Top Latin Songs chart. She also won vocalist of the year at the 1987 Tejano Music Awards and landed a record contract with EMI a few years later. She also the only female artist to have five albums on U.S. Billboard 200 at the same time.

  5. Selena’s Career She released her first album at the age of twelve. She starred as herself on the Johnny Canales show from 1985-1984 She was on Dos Mujeres, un camino in 1993. By 1987, she was named the female vocalist of the year at the Tejano Awards when she was fifteen In 1989, she signed with EMI record label. She won a Grammy for Selena Live. That same year she opened up her own clothing line, and two boutiques. She was in Don Juan de Marco starring Johnny Depp. February of 1995, would be her last concert in front of 65,000 fans

  8. Why I Chose Selena I decided to chose Selena because she seemed very interesting. She had a great music career in the Hispanic world. The first thing that made me decide to pick her is that she had won a Grammy and she recorded her first album at the age of twelve.
