  3. Floods • Floods are caused by heavy rain flowing through the drainage basin. • Another way floods could happen is when to much water comes down a waterfall and overflows the riverbank. • Floods are one of the most common natural disasters.

  4. Earthquakes • When an earthquake happens and your inside, get under a sturdy object. • But if your outside, stay away from any tall objects that might fall on you. • Earthquakes are only about 1 minute long.

  5. Tornados • You should always be in a basement when a tornado happens. • Tornados could reach wind speeds of 468 kilometers per hour. • Tornados could sound like a swarm of bees.

  6. Hurracanes • A hurricane is a spiraling, low pressure air mass that builds over the ocean or sea. • Coastal areas are usually flooded by winds and strong waves. • Powerful winds create a wall of water called a storm surge.
