  1. Few facts about lightning • There are different types of flash. • The lightning strikes those we see are intra-cloud lightning. • Lightning strikes that happen up in the beyond the sky level between the ionosphere and mesosphere are known as sprites. • The lightning bolt that occurs between stratosphere and mesosphere is known as tendrils. • Sometimes jets of lightning comes out from clouds and moves fast in the upward motion. As the colour of those strikes are blue, they are known as blue jets. • A type of lighting that comes out from a cloud and moves down towards the ground or earth is known as spider lightning.

  2. Damage caused by lightning strikes • A. Fire- • A building can catch fire after lightning strikes it. A bolt of lightning can cause much damage to woods and other flammable materials of the structure. Moreover, as lightning travelling through metal wires can burn and cause much destruction to the whole property.
