Introducing .. Medicines of the Future Researches are working long, around the clock hours to come up with further technology and formulas to cure certain diseases, cancer, and other conditions. Although, this takes much time and experimenting to get the new medicines to work just right scientists are trying their hardest to succeed. This will take years and years and fortunately some scientists and doctors have already come up with their hypothesis for the F U T U R E !!

Aids and Immunizations for Children There will have been the predicted pandemics of viral illnesses, exacerbated by faster and more frequent air travel. There will be numerous vaccines to make AIDS a chronic illness. Children will receive immunizations against 17 viral and bacterial agents, before they are a year old. These will be combined into 3 shots. Many more cancers will be curable, detected at increasingly earlier stages and treated with increasingly more sophisticated chemicals and radiation, with gene therapy and nuclear medicine delivery systems playing a bigger role. Mammography will be replaced with a more sensitive screening tool.

Alcohol, Botox, & Marijuana.Could it really help? Smoking will be outlawed except for marijuana used for medical reasons, which will be sold and heavily taxed in government outlets. The list of medical reasons for which a doctor prescribes marijuana will include agoraphobia, attention deficit syndrome, and erectile dysfunction. Alcohol will have been similarly recognized as being a potent medicine, and will only be available as a prescription. Botox injections will be used for about 100 medical conditions.

The elderly and Alzheimer’s Disease Care for the elderly will be a major industry, with state of the art nursing homes and many levels of home care available. There will have been medical breakthroughs in Alzheimer’s disease with better treatments to slow disease progression. Geriatrics will be a growing specialty employing one third of the medical graduates. Most of the elderly will be able to die at home as enhanced palliative care and community services evolve.

PROS Some of the pros of medicine for the future are because there is so much disease and cancer in the world and not enough ways to cure all of it, with new advances in medicine and technology doctors and researchers will be able to cure more people that suffer from disease and cancer. CONS Some of the cons of medicine for the future are that no matter what happens with research and what kinds of cures they find, people will be dying in the process because they are going to be unaware of a lot of the after effects of the treatment and it will take many years to perfect this. DNA & the Microchip DNA and genetic screening will be mandatory for insurance policies and people will be rejected for coverage based on their gene mapping and potential for illness. Screening MRI or PET scans will be routinely done every 5 years on all patients. Batten Disease Batten disease also called Neuronal Ceriod Lipofuscinoses. is an inherited disorder of the nervous system, and appears usually in childhood, between the ages of five and ten. Batten disease will cause death in children as young as eight years old. Now researchers are on the cusp of finding a drug that holds the potential to help children suffering from Batten disease.They found that a drug was able to block some of these receptors, thus slowing or diminishing their activity. In the future they will be trying to use an experimental stem cell transplant to the brain.

Weeds for the future… A study from the University of Georgia and the University of Michigan showed that most of the medications that you will take in the future are highly likely to come from weeds, because weeds have such weak structures that they need chemicals that kill viruses, bacteria, fungi, animals and even man to protect them. These chemicals protect you when they get into your cells after you eat them. Drs. Stepp and Moerman feel that weeds offer the greatest chance to discover new drugs from plants.
