  6. Construction Projects • Additional work inherited by Facilities that should have been completed by contractor • Additional electric • Additional water lines • Additional technology requirements • Additional utility services • Casework/Lab Bench modifications

  7. Capital Equipment Procurement • Equipment purchased and delivered without Facilities prior knowledge

  8. Internal Departmental Moves • Preparing space for Existing Equipment • Scheduling work orders • Hiring temporary labor to assist with move

  9. Proactive Strategies to Prepare for Change

  10. Utilize an Equipment Planner for large projects. • Room by Room planning, • responsibility identification, • specification coordination for architects for drawings, physical dimensions & utility requirement information communication to Contractor and Subcontractor

  11. Include equipment discussions in high level Facilities Planning meetings • Identify both New and Existing Equipment • Assemble data sheets for all equipment to identify physical dimensions and utility requirements • Provide information to Maintenance Planner to generate work orders to relocate and install equipment (e.g. labor, materials, scheduling)

  12. Access information for future capital equipment acquisitions • Never too early to plan • Identify manufacturer/model and room number equipment will be installed. • Confirm procurement approval before scheduling work
