Background Required by law in order to receive funding E-Rate is a discount program Plans must be short term Our plan is for 2011-2013 5 campuses 1,749 students enrolled Economically disadvantaged students 51.97% Technology expenditures: $462,000 Technology expenditure per student: $264.15 (Wright, 2011)

  3. National EducationTechnology Plan 2010 Learning: Engage and Empower Assessment: Measure What Matters Teaching: Prepare and Connect Infrastructure: Access and Enable Productivity: Redesign and Transform (United States Secretary of Education, 2010)

  4. Learning: Engage and Empower • Goal 1 – 100% of the instructional staff will utilize technology to support research-based instructional strategies to improve student learning and meet diverse learning needs. • Dual credit and college credit classes offered • Education 20/20 software for individualized course credit • Internet and library research databases will be available for all access • Professional development offered for teachers to help them facilitate learning in their classrooms (Wright, 2011) and (United State Secretary of Education, 2010)

Assessment: Measure What Matters • Evaluation Process • Technology Committee will evaluate biannually • Technology Director, Computer Technician, and teachers from each campus • Surveys of staff • Interviews by committee members • Staff participation in professional development • Technology integration measured • Monitor community access • Inventory of hardware and software • Support and maintenance (Wright, 2011) and (United State Secretary of Education, 2010)

Teaching: Prepare and Connect • Goal 3 – 100% of administrators, support staff, and teachers will use technology to improve communication and disseminate information to staff, students, parents, and the community. • Create a technology budget • Technology plan developed, updated, and evaluated • Seek all funds available (local, state, federal programs, grants, community partnerships) • Apply for E-Rate reimbursements • School and community access will increase • Parent surveys • School website updated • E-mail will be used to communicate with all stakeholders (Wright, 2011) and (United State Secretary of Education, 2010)

Infrastructure:Access and Enable • Needs assessment • Surveys, interviews, focus group sessions, inventories, and Texas Campus STaR Chart • Goal 4 – The district infrastructure will be configured and maintained to provide access to quality technology resources for the whole district and community. • Technical support staff evaluation • Technology inventory annually • Update technology plan • Purchase new computers on a schedule utilizing the latest technology available (Wright, 2011) and (United State Secretary of Education, 2010)

Infrastructure:Access and Enable • Goal 4 (continued) • Maintain connectivity on all campuses • Internet filter will be utilized • Technical support and professional development will be maintained on a daily basis • Instructional technologist will help teachers • Daily backup of data • Appropriate hardware and software provided for each campus (Wright, 2011) and (United State Secretary of Education, 2010)

Productivity:Redesign and Transform • Goal 2 – 100% of teachers will have opportunities for continued staff development needed to integrate technology into the curriculum. • Ongoing, sustained staff development provided • STaR Chart completed by teachers • Teachers will attend minimum of 6 hours of technology professional development annually • Teachers will demonstrate skills learned in professional development using technology resources available (Wright, 2011) and (United State Secretary of Education, 2010)
