  2. The Code of Conduct and The Golden Rules exist to make Howwood a safe and happy place where we can all be the best we can be!

  3. The Whole School Code of Conduct • Attend school and arrive on time • Move around the school in a quiet and orderly way • Be polite and treat everyone with respect • Look after our school – the building, our playground and our equipment • Be smart and wear school uniform • Be considerate and helpful • Show a responsible attitude towards work • Behave in a manner that reflects positively on the reputation of the school in the community, on school outings, visits etc

  4. The Golden Rules • We are gentle We don’t hurt anybody • We are kind and helpful We don’t hurt other people’s feelings • We listen We don’t interrupt • We are honest We don’t cover up the truth • We work hard We don’t waste our or other people’s time • We look after property We don’t’ waste or damage things

  5. The Code of Conduct and the Golden Rules apply equally in the playground Andy, Mrs Dempster and Mrs McCabe have responsibility for maintaining good conduct in the playground Any pupil not following the Golden Rules may be sent to Mrs Andrews or Mrs Greig A copy of the Code will be sent to your parents so they can help us all to work together to keep a Happy Howwood

  6. Rewards - If you behave well you will be rewarded! • At the end of each break the playground staff will check behaviour in the lines and award stars for quiet and orderly behaviour • The class with the most stars by Friday afternoon will earn an additional short break time, to be taken during an afternoon • If you follow the rules you will get Golden Time every Friday and together with your class teacher you can choose what you want to do

  7. If you keep all your Golden Time your name will go on the Roll Of Honour and you will get a certificate to take home at the end of term • Each class has a Star Chart • All pupils can earn House points/Stars for; • Behaviour • Effort • Homework • Good Work • Special Star • Special Stars can be earned for following the Code Conduct • Winning house of the term will get a special event to be chosen by themselves!

  8. Losing Golden Time • Breaking a school rule will have a consequence • Everyone starts the week with 30 minutes of Golden Time but this can be taken away if rules are broken •  Where a pupil is not behaving well they will be given a verbal warning • If the behaviour continues or is repeated you will be given a second warning • Should there be further misbehaviour you will lose Golden Time • You cant earn back the time you have lost by bad behaviour

  9. If you lose Golden Time, you must write a note to your parents telling them why and they have to sign it to show they have read it • If a pupil loses Golden Time on three consecutive weeks, Mrs Andrews or Mrs Greig will phone home and we will have a meeting at the school • All pupils have the responsibility to stick to the Golden Rules but if we all work together we can all be • Happy at Howwood 
