  1. What liquid will rust metal nails the fastest? By: Leah Critcheloe and Taralyn Taylor

  2. Purpose The reason we are doing this project is to find out if Sprite, Orange juice, or Milk will rust nails and if it dose witch one rusted the fastest ? Hypothesis We think that the sprite will rust the fastest because it has citric acid in it and that might make it rust faster

  3. The Materials ● 9 red solo cups ● 9 large metal nails ●12oz of milk ●12oz of sprite ●12oz of ocean spray orange juice ●1 silver sharpie marker

  4. Procedure STEP 1: Take out three of the solo cups and write O.J, Sprite, and 2% Dairy Milk, do this three times. STEP 2: Pour the 2% dairy milk in the cup labeled milk, do the same with O.J, and sprite with correctly labeled cups. STEP 3: Put 1 nail in each solo cup. STEP 4: Take out the nails everyday for three days to check for rust.

  5. 1=little to no rust 2=some rust 3=most rust Signs of rust after 5 days

  6. My conclusion The liquids didn’t have enough time to rust. Sprite and orange juice must have had some acid in them because they did the most damage. Milk did little damage. Our hypothesis was right because the Sprite produced rust. We could have used a different liquid, used teeth, or gave it more time.
