Structure:Informal (direct) commands • Use tú commandstotellsomeonewhatto do ortogivesomeonedirections. • Toformaffirmative tú commands, taketheinfinitive (COMER) and change it tothethirdpersonform (COME). ¡Come el sandwich! = Eatthesandwich! • Toformnegativetú commands, taketheverb (COMER) and change it totheopposite 2nd person (tú) form (COMAS). ¡No comas la serpiente! = Don’teatthesnake! • Examples: • Talk! = ¡Habla! Don’ttalk! = ¡No hables! • Climb! = ¡Sube! Don’tclimb! = ¡No subas!

Youhavetomemorizethese. • AffirmativeNegatives • DECIR—¡Dime! = Tell me! ¡No me digas! = ? • HACER—¡Hazlo! = Do it! ¡No lo hagas! = ? • IR—¡Ve! = Go! ¡No vayas! = ? • PONER—¡Pon! = Put! ¡No pongas! = ? • SALIR—¡Sal! = Leave! ¡No salgas! = ? • SER—¡Sé! = Be! ¡No seas! = ? • TENER—¡Ten! = Have! ¡No tengas! = ? • VENIR—¡Ven! = Come! ¡No vengas! = ?

Formation: • Use thesubjunctive tense forconjugatingthesecommandforms. • RemembertotaketheSTEM of theinfinitiveand addtheoppositeendingtomakethesubjunctive, or in this case, the formal commandconjugation. • AR: ¡Hable, hablen! or¡No hable! No hablen! • ER/IR : ¡Viva, no viva! Vivan,no vivan! • Objectpronouns are attachedtoPOSITIVEcommands and come beforetheverbwithNEGATIVEcommands.
