  1. Graphic Design Tribute Poster Mondino

  2. Tribute • In general use, the phrase "to pay tribute" often means "to praise out loud"

  3. Poster • A poster is any piece of printed paper designed to be attached to a wall or vertical surface. Typically posters include both textual and graphic elements, although a poster may be either wholly graphical or wholly text. Posters are designed to be both eye-catching and informative. Posters may be used for many purposes. They are a frequent tool of advertisers (particularly of events, musicians and films), protestors and other groups trying to communicate a message. Posters are also used for reproductions of artwork, particularly famous works, and are generally low-cost compared to original artwork.

  4. Research • You will research an individual who you would like to pay “tribute” to. This individual must have good reasons why you are paying “tribute” to them. They must be accomplished as a person for important reasons. (Not just your favorite musician or actor) • You will be responsible for researching this individual as well as writing a three page paper. (This is why it is important to choose someone who is well accomplished, this will make the writing easier for you.)

  5. Research Paper • The following information is what your paper will be graded on. If you have and questions please ask before you turn in your paper. What is listed are not suggestions, they are requirement. You will be required to have a bibliography for your paper, and if you plagiarize you will receive a “0”.

  6. Research Paper • Choose a person of interest, someone who you would like to pay “tribute” to. You have a three page requirement, so you must be able to consolidate the information you find into 2 pages of double spaced text. Do not go over 12 pt. font! • As a general rule you should consult twice as many sources as the number of pages required for the paper. Your paper will be three pages so try to use 2-3 sources. More is acceptable as long as the person is researched thoroughly.

  7. Research Paper • Write unified paragraphs with topic sentences, support, and transition to the next paragraph. Avoid one-sentence paragraphs! • Unless you are an experienced writer, choose chronological instead of topical organization for your paper and stick to it. By following the flow of time and providing dates often, you are helping yourself write the paper and your reader follow your ideas.

  8. Research Paper • Avoid making the assumption that the reader knows anything about your topic. As you write, do so for your classmates or someone entirely ignorant about your subject but perfectly capable of understanding it if it is described and explained well. This helps you keep your information clear. • Proof your paper carefully to correct organizational, grammatical, syntactical, spelling and/or typing errors before submitting it to the instructor. A large number of errors will lower your grade.

  9. Research Paper • Type, double space, and indent 1 inch for all margins. Use only Times New Roman 12 point print. • Attach a separate COVER SHEET indicating a title for your paper. Include your name, date, class and period. • ANY QUESTIONS ASK!!! YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF CLASS TIME TO COMPLETE THE RESEARCH AND PAPER. IF YOU CHOSE NOT TO USE YOUR TIME PROPERLY YOU WILL NOT FINISH ON TIME.

  10. Tribute Poster • Adobe Photoshop New Document 11X14 • 300 Resolution • RGB Color • Have at least two images of the person • Name of person somewhere on the poster • Creativity • Aesthetics (think about colors that work together) • Overlapping/ Opacity

  11. Tribute Poster • Create your own background. You may use many different images, but you may not find a background image to use. • Use filters, paintbrush and text tools. • Think about the Layout of the entire poster!
