  2. As a class, you will create the visual story of The Bluest Eye from your point of view. Each of you will contribute a 1 pg. gift to add to the scrapbook that will be Pecola’s only link to her life.

  3. Step 1:*Choose a character from a hat*More than one person may have the same character*You may work in pairs

  4. Step 2:*Using the text, find an instance or event in that character’s life that made an impact or had a life changing effect on him/her.

  5. Step 3:*Type a 1 page paraphrase/synopsis of what that event is. Be sure to use specific examples. Include reasons you believe this to be the culminating moment in the character’s life. (chapter/pg.)

  6. Step 4:*Create a Scrapbook Page*A memory to keep for posterity*A reminder from your Point of View*Show what happened…..*Include all scrapbook decorations appropriate to the character and event

  7. Step 5:*Include a caption describing the character. It must be verbatim from the book; include page number

  8. Step 6:*Assemble the articles, pictures, captions and as many items as you can in a strategic layout*Remember: the purpose is to trigger memories of the past *Glue your synopsis to back of scrapbook page

  9. Step 7:*Present your page in class*Include information from your paraphrase/synopsis*Tell us why you chose this event & why Pecola should remember it

  10. Step 8:*Choose a song that best describes your character/event/memory/action*Provide a sample*provide lyrics and explanation

  11. TEACHER TIPS:*Use creative ways to show you read and understood the book* Use colors…not just blue*Use labels and captions*Anyone who read the novel should look at your page and tell what event it is from the book (for a better grade)

  13. I will place your pages into an actual scrapbook which would be what Pecola would look at in order to reminisce. You may decorate it for extra credit
