User Accessibility Issues • The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium has an excellent online document "How People with Disabilities Use the Web". • The section on Scenarios of People with Disabilities Using the Web explains how specific disabilities affect user access to the web.

  4. User Accessibility Issues • The Microsoft accessibility site lists Guides by Impairment that describe the types of assistive technology solutions for each of 5 disability groups: Visual Impairments, Hearing Impairments, Mobility Impairments, Language Impairments, and Learning Impairments.

User Accessibility Issues • Browse to IBM’s site to learn about Interacting with people who are blind, Interacting with people with mobility impairments, and Interacting with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. • The Accessibility Color Wheel allows you to experience how three color insensitivities are perceived

  7. Accessibility Guidelines & Standards • The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), a subgroup of W3C, provides the guidelines for ensuring content created for the web is accessible to all users.

  10. Evaluation & Repair Tools • Check out some of the evaluation tools listed on the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative site.

  11. A-Prompt is an application available for Windows. Download it from the A-Prompt download page and install it according to the directions there. • Follow the Quick Start Tutorial to learn how this easy to use program works.

  12. Wave, now located at WebAIM, offers 4 different ways to evaluate your web page for accessibility: • Method 1: Submit the URI of a page • Method 2: Upload a page • Method 3: Install WAVE toolbar in browser • Method 4: Add WAVE bookmarklet to browser
