Instructional Groups • Students divided into two ability groups • Allows for more individualized instruction • Creates an environment in which students can feel successful and challenged • ALL students will be working on grade • level • Groups are flexible! • Yellow Group: Grade Level • Red Group: Grade Level Plus

  8. A Knight’s Promise Offenses K – Keep hands and feet to yourself N – Never disturb learning I – If it’s not yours, ask permission G – Give attention to the speaker H – Hallway behavior must be orderly T – Turn in work and folders on time S – Say and do only kind things

  9. A Knight’s Promise Consequences 1st Offense – 5 minutes off of recess 2nd Offense – 10 minutes off of recess 3rd Offense – Demerit slip and isolated lunch 4th Offense – Demerit Slip and 2 days of isolated lunch 5th Offense – Detention

  13. Student Planner • Helps students stay organized • Builds responsibility • Students write during every class what • we are learning, homework • assignments and important info • Offenses will be written at the end • of the day in pen • Primary form of communication • MUST BE SIGNED EVERYDAY!

  14. Homework Folder • Two pockets: To Do and Finished • All assignments should stay in this • folder for safe keeping! • Multiplication Chart on back • with parent signature page

  15. Tuesday Folder • Should come home every Tuesday, • unless there is a holiday or other • occasion • Will contain graded student work • and important papers • Two pockets: Sign and Return/ • Keep At Home • Weekly Report Page-- • Please Sign!

  16. It is IMPORTANT that your child is present and on time! • Tardies– Our day begins at 7:45. • Absences • School requires a note within 3 days • of absence or unexcused • After seven absences without • a doctor’s note, unexcused • Checkouts—Please save for • afternoon! Attendance

  17. Absent Work If your child is absent and you would like to pick up the work they have missed, please contact the school by phone or e-mail homeroom teacher before 11:00 am. Absent work may be picked up in front of the office after school. Note: Students are responsible for any assignments or assessments that they miss. Absent work should be completed and returned in a timely manner. Attendance

  20. Volunteers are Welcome! • Will periodically send home letters asking for volunteers for special events • Classroom Volunteers: If you would like to volunteer during a normal school day, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.
