The French Higher Education System ~ 80 Universities (XIIIth century): 1500000 students ~ 200 Engineering Schools (XVIth century): 140000 students Engineering Schools: selection of applicants Comprehensive Universities: no selection of applicants Engineering School diplomas: Engineering degree, MSc, PhD Comprehensive Universities diplomas: BSc, MSc, PhD In France, the Engineering degree is equivalent to the MSc degree, but the converse is not true.

The CSC / UT-INSA PhD Program • OBJECTIVES • A first experience of research in an international environment • The opportunity to beholder of the PhD degreefrom a French famous Engineering School • A 3.5 yearsexperiencein a leading (beautiful, with a long history…) European country • A very good initial condition for your future career

  12. Overview of the CSC / UT-INSA PhD Program • You select yourresearchsubject (rank up to 3 PhD proposals) from the listproposed on: www-csc.utt.fr • You applyto our program. Selectionprocedure: www-csc.utt.fr • If admitted, you are automaticallyawarded a scholarship (monthlyamount of 1200€, 42 months) by the CSC • You prepare a PhD in one of the laboratories of the UT-INSA network • You get the PhD degreefrom the institution you have selected • Only for UTT : possibility to prepare a double PhD at UTT and one of its international partners : youwillbeawarded 2 PhD degreeswith a single defence.The scholarshipis 48-month long

  13. Requirements • You must betop ranked • You must beawarded the master degreebeforejune 2016 • You will have to get the visa to France (requirements, procedure) • Your communication skills (in English) must be OK

Detailed description of the selection / application process • Visit the websitewww-csc.utt.fr(fromJuly 15 to Nov. 15, 2015) • Select and rank, up to 3PhD proposals • Download the application formand fillit • Send the application form and your records toling.gong@utt.frand to yourpotentialsupervisorsto gettheir feedback (deadline Nov. 15) • Send by post the documents required by the CSC • WaituntilmidJanuary 2016 for the decision of a possible interview in China (Feb. 2016) • Come to the interview (motivation interview) in China (Feb. 2016) • Wait for the final decision(no more than 2 weeksafter the interview, and no furtherexaminationfrom the CSC) • Go to Shanghaïtolearn French (from March to June, 2016) • Start your PhD in the UT-INSA network (Sept. 2016)
