  2. Log-in to Quality Center Click on the link to Quality Center from any of the Nuclear Training Homepages

  3. Log-in to Quality Center For first-time login only, you’ll get a screen that looks like this while the software downloads.

  4. Log-In to Quality Center … then you’ll get a message similar to this. Exit, then click on the Quality Center link again. Bear in mind: this only happens on your first log-in!

  5. Log-in to Quality Center Select “Quality Center” to begin. NOTE: You may not see this screen the first time you log-in

  6. Log-in to Quality Center For first-time login, Enter Login Name (Enterprise ID), then click Authenticate. You do not need a Password. However …

  7. Log-in to Quality Center … You may set up a Password for yourself by going to “Tools” and “Customize” from the “Defects Page.” Instructions are illustrated in a later series of slides.

  10. Extra Reading This additional information may be useful to you, or you may click on “Close” to move on to entering a TIR.

  11. Going Back To go back to a previous screen, as in LMS, use the program “Back Button.”

  12. Viewing Columns When you first Log-In to the TIR section of QC, you will only have a few columns of information available, primarily “Defect ID” and “Summary” To set up columns go to “View” and “Select Columns”

Click on the name of a column and the “Right Arrow” to select a column for your “Defects Page.” Suggested columns are: Defect ID Site Summary Origination Date Originator’s Name TIR Status Program Title Lead Name Action Required 2. Once you have your columns selected and moved to the right window, click “OK”

  14. Setting or Changing Passwords If you want to set or change your Password, Click on “Tools” and “Customize”

  15. Setting or Changing Passwords This window will be blank until you click “User Properties.” To set or change Password click the button below.

  16. Setting or Changing Passwords Once you have set or changed your Password, click “Return” to go back to the “Defects Page” If you have no “Old Password” just leave the space blank and enter / retype your Password choice. Once you have set a Password, you must use it at Log-In.

  17. Enter a New TIR Click “New Defect”

  18. Summary Field Enter brief descriptive title for TIR

  19. Originator’s Name 1. Click on the pull-down menu 2. Click on the “+” next to Your Site

  20. Select the originator’s (probably your) name on the list, … Originator’s Name … then click OK

  21. Originator’s Name “New” means the TIR is new and all required information has not yet been entered. Now, fill in the rest of the information. NOTE: Items in RED are required fields.

  22. Complete “Details” Page Enter origination date, program title, site(s), reason for change, source document description, action required, and TIR status per TR-AA-530 instructions.

  23. Complete “Details” Page TR-AA-530 directs you to change the Status to “Open” if the TIR will be held for future actions or “Working” if the work will take place now / soon. Enter any other information needed into the “Description” field and click “Submit.” An e-mail notice will be sent to the TIR Lead

  24. Complete “Details” Page After you submit your TIR, another window will pop up to let you enter another new TIR. You may do so OR click “Close” to go back to the “Defects Page” to continue with other activities.

  25. Complete “Details” Page If you do not make an entry in the “Description” field (a required field), the system will enter the words from the ‘Summary” field. While not required by procedure, it is advisable to number your items in the “Description” and “Comments” fields. This will facilitate matching comments to the descriptions.

  26. While not required by procedure, it is advisable to click “Add Comment” before entering a comment. This will facilitate tracking comments by responder and date. Complete “Details” Page

  27. You may attach files, pictures, internet addresses, etc. to the TIR. Attachments

  28. Create Sub-Assignments Click on “Page 2” tab to create sub-assignments per TR-AA-530 instructions. Due dates MUST be prior to the TIR due date.

  29. Submit TIR Click “Submit”

  30. TIR Sub-Assignments Don’t forget to notify individuals of TIR sub-assignments. There are no automatic notices for sub-assignments at this time. (TIR Lead is responsible for this.)

  31. Open an Existing TIR Simultaneously depress Alt and G, then select the TIR# (Defect ID) from the drop-down (or type the number), then click OK. NOTE: TIR and Defect as well as TIR Number and Defect ID are considered equivalent terms when using Quality Center.

  32. Open an Existing TIR This is the Defect you requested. You should see something like this. NOTE: The unique identifier (Defect ID) does not differentiate among sites. This is one of the advantages since you may view TIRs from the rest of the Fleet.

  33. Completing a Sub-Assignment Type in the actions taken to address the sub-assignment.

  34. Completing a Sub-Assignment Click OK to save changes.

  35. Closing a TIR Select the TIR you want to Close and ensure all sub-assignments have been completed. Include any descriptions or comments needed to document the final status / actions taken.

  36. Closing a TIR Go to “Page 4” and select responses from the pull down menus. While not required, you may use “N/A” in the CR Number and Task Number if there are no other entries needed. Select the Supervisor who will approve closure. Click “OK.” An e-mail notice will be sent to the Supervisor.

  37. Closing a TIR NOTE: Use Self-Check and DO NOT select a “Closure Date.” Doing so will close the TIR before the Supervisor reviews it. Your EID will appear in the “Closure Approved By” field. This feature is available to allow closure by designated Instructors (filling in for an absent Supervisor) or other Supervisors.

  38. Requesting an Extension Open the TIR and go to Page 3. Enter the requested extension date.

  39. Requesting an Extension Use the pull-down menu to select the Supervisor who will review the extension request.

  40. Requesting an Extension Click on Requested Extension Comments and type the reason for requesting an extension, then click OK. An automatic notice will be sent to the Supervisor to approve the extension.

  41. Requesting an Extension NOTE: TR-AA-530 requires Training Manager approval to extend a TIR that has already been extended two (or more) times.

  42. Printing a TIR Go to the “Defects Page” and Highlight the TIR that you want to print. Click on “Analysis” and “Report Selected.”

  43. Printing a TIR Click on the “Printer” icon to print TIR. Then click “Back” or “Close” to return to “Defects Page.”
