  2. What is the perfect tense? When we talk about something we’ve done or something that has happened we use a past tense: I played tennis on Saturday. In English we can talk about the past using the verb “to have” and a past participle. For example, “he has eaten all the biscuits” The perfect tense in French is formed using the present tense of “avoir” – to have and a past participle.

  4. Past participle Regular verbs form the past participle as follows: -er verbs -é travailler travaillé -re verbs -u attendre attendu -ir verbs -i finir fini

  5. Perfect tense formation Correct form of “avoir” + past participle For example: J’ai mangé I have eaten / I ate Tu as dormi You slept Il a vendu sa maison He sold his house Nous avons dansé We danced Vous avez mangé You ate Ils ont fini They finished
