  3. PTAParent Teacher Association Purpose: Forum where parents/teachers/administrators/other concerned adults discuss ways to promote quality education, strive to expand the arts, encourage community involvement, and work for a healthy environment and safe neighborhoods.

  4. PTA Organizational Chart National PTA This level is responsible for legislative action. This level is responsible for ensuring we are legally fulfilling financial responsibilities and are resourced appropriately. Maryland PTA Local PTA CES Local PTA Sunderland Local PTA St. Leonard This level is responsible for ensuring legislative actions are communicated to school community, raising funds to meet identified needs, and enriching the school community by providing inclusive, interactive programming.

Provides vision/mission. National/MD/CES PTAMission Statements • National PTA – making every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. • Maryland PTA – Threefold mission: to support and speak on behalf of the children and youth in schools, in the community, and before government bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation. • CES PTA – CES PTA will fairly represent the needs of it's constituency by engaging the PTA board, associated administrators, teachers, and parents via surveys and conferences to adequately assess needs and develop strategies to meet those needs via fundraisers and family programs.

  7. What we must do • Be noncommercial/nonpartisan/nonsectarian • Conduct annual membership drive • Collect and remit dues to National/MD PTA • Keep financial records of all transactions • Must have 5 Executive Board members whom are elected on even years for two year terms • Submit annual financial review and have full audit conducted • Appoint standing committees and approve plans of work • Conduct at least 2 general membership meetings, one must be held in April • 27 members constitute a quorum and have the ability to vote on presented amendments

What we cannot do • Require any Volunteer time from members! • Change the education process - we can only enrich current education reforms/curriculum • Fund new furniture - this resides within Board of Education responsibility • Fund capital improvements of the educational facility • Make monetary contributions to other non-charitable organizations • Provide wages to teachers/staff • Purchase school office equipment

CES PTA FY 2012-2013 Goals • Green Screen Room software upgrade • School-wide computer software upgrade • Special Education Swings for playground • New bumpers between Kiss n Ride/Bus Lane What we have already provided: • 9 computer headsets • 5 recess balls per grade • 2 scoreboards for physical education • Ink Toner Cartridges/copy paper • Homework Journals • $500 art grant
