Genre Originally we thought the genre of Black hole was Sci-Fi but with a little bit of research we found that Sci-Fi “should not be completely unbelievable, because it then ventures into the genre fantasy”. (http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/lesson_images/lesson927/SciFiDefinition.pdf date accessed 21/06/13) So then we decided the genre of this short film is fantasy because the idea of a piece of paper that allows you to put you arm through walls is “completely unbelievable” and could only be described as magic which is common in fantasy. It also could be described as a comedy because of the obvious use of humor. Camera shots are used well to make the audience laugh such as this shot here that shows use that the tape he has used to stick the black hole to the door of the safe coming loose as he has crawled inside the safe, this is an example of dramatic irony because at this point the audience know that he is going to be trapped in the safe but he does not.

  3. The man in this clip is represented as having a quite boring life we can see this by the way he is working, you can tell he is demotivated and that he hates his job. You also see this in the way he gets so frustrated with the photocopier and kicks it, this shows a frustrated feeling we can all probably relate to when we are doing a very mundane task and the technology starts to act up instead of trying to work out what is wrong with it the most common reaction is to hit or kick the machine. He goes to steal all the money from his boss's safe which tells us two things; One he isn't particularly well paid in his job (possibly underpaid), two he clearly doesn't like his boss very much. This trait of someone who hates their job can be seen in many characters is movies and t.v shows for example the narrator played by Edward Norton in Fight Club. A London based production company that produce lots of T.V adverts for some high profile companies like Doritos,Aviva, Coors Light and Virgin holidays. It also has produced music videos for Robbie Williams, Newton Faulkner,Katy Perry, Kaiser Chiefs, Don Broco, Maximo Park, Eminem,Moby and many more. Olly Williams the director of The Black Hole has done adverts for O2 and Doritos and has done lots of music videos for Magnetic Man, The Hoosiers, Will Young and Robbie Williams all with HSI London. • Distributed by Future Shorts (UK) “Future Shorts is the largest short film network in the world.”(http://futureshorts.com/htmlViewer.php?id=12 date accessed 23/06/13) Future Shorts is a company that organises monthly pop up short film festivals all around the world.
