  2. t When and why it was built • When it was built- The Lindisfarne castle, which means “Lands Corner”, was built around 1550-1552 when the Lidisfarne priory fell and they took the stones from it to build the fort that would eventually become a castle • The builder was Henry VIII and it was originally a fort to protect them from the Scotts, the English, and the Vikings, and he was the first owner • Eventually Elizabeth I came to power and reinforced the fort by putting in gun platform, and changed it into more of a castle

  3. Lindisfarne Lindidsarne is located between England and Scotland and because of where it was, it was vulnerable to attacks from all sides Location

Special Features • One special feature is the water raises up and you can only access the castle at certain times • Also, it is more recent, but Lutyen made a stair way going up the slope of the rock with no guard rails or rope and when the future George V and Queen Mary visited they a insisted he changed it and he did and they agreed it is now much safer

  5. What families lived in the castle • No one actually ever lived in this castle but it was a fort that was occupied by many different people such as Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, James I who combined the English and Scottish thrones but the castle was still under the town of Berwick's order • Castle

What it is used for today • Today, it is used as a nature reserve for birds such as: Redwing and Fieldfare and rare ones such as Radde's Warbler, Dusky Warbler and Red-flanked Bluetail • Also, it is a tourist attraction and the care takers of the castle, as you can tell, take care of the castle well and add flowers for the people to enjoy • The whole castle is still standing but you are not allowed to take pictures of the inside
