  2. Points to Note about the Résumé 1. Your resume, along with your cover letter, is your introduction to a potential employer. First impression count! a. Be sure to print the resume and cover letter on quality letter paper. Prepare your resume on computer. b. Proofread very carefully for sentence-skills and spelling mistakes. Get someone else to help you do this. c. Be brief and to the point: use only one page if possible. d. Search and use a resume template which you can fill in. e. You should always start with your most recent education or employment and continue backward. Your footer here

  3. Pointers Cont… 2. Your resume should point out strengths not weaknesses. If your grade average is a low C, do not make reference to it. Extracurricular activities may be included especially if they practice skills you may use in the job you are applying for. 3. Place references directly on to resume, include their address and contact information. Your footer here

  4. Cover Letter • The purpose of the cover letter that goes with your resume is to introduce yourself briefly and to make the employer interested in you. Points About the Cover Letter • Your letter should… • Include a paragraph stating that you are an applicant interested in a specific job position. Mention which position you are interested in. Include your address. Example: “I learned through the placement office at Rowan University of the assistant computer programmer position at your company. I would like to be considered as a candidate for the job.” b. In the second paragraph, briefly state your qualifications for thee job and refer your reader to your resume. c. In the last paragraph, state your willingness to come for an interview.
