Standardizing and Training Markers – Subjective Marking Speaking • Standardization session of 90 mins1-2 days prior to the test • Experienced markers involved in marking • Familiarizing markers with test criteria and feedback form, clarifying criteria if necessary • Viewing samples and trying to reach consensus grades • Single marking Writing • Reviewing marking guidelines • Standardization session of 90 mins on the day of marking • All level instructors involved in marking • Viewing samples, trying to reach consensus grades (defining ground rules, setting standards, clarifying criteria) • First and second marking & grade compilation (3rd marking if necessary)
