  2. Jefferson Township 2015Goal 1 Students will be responsible and contributing citizens.

JT2015: Goal 1 Accomplishments 2008-2009 Task 1.1.1 - Continue to enhance and improve recycling district-wide. • Paper recycling containers are in all classrooms, offices, and workspaces. • Recycling containers for glass, metal, and plastic are strategically placed through out all district buildings. • Recycling containers are available for batteries in each school and all schools recycle ink cartridges. • All staff has been instructed to utilize proper recycling containers. • There have been many classroom and school-wide activities to promote student awareness of recycling. • Custodial and maintenance staff have been trained and reminded of recycling procedures. • Recycling done as per township ordinance. • Chartwells is utilizing environmentally friendly products district-wide.

JT2015: Goal 1 Accomplishments 2008-2009 Elementary Schools: • Morning Magic and Afternoon Adventure clubs are beautifying school grounds(1.1.2). • Assembly program by Jack Brannigan on the rain forest and making environmentally responsible choices (1.1.1). Middle School: • Environmental Club has established plans to beautify specific areas of the school(1.1.2). • GATEways students have created signs to promote recycling and environmentally conscious choices (1.1.3). High School: • Engineering classes designed prototype container covers to help channel recyclables into proper containers (1.1.1). • Media classes produced “Recycle Right” commercials and reminders featuring JTHS students and faculty (1.1.3). District-Wide: • Students at all levels participated in activities centered around the 2008 presidential election (1.2.3).

  5. 2009-2010 Task 1.7.1 Provide Character Counts Training and establish building and district Character Counts Committees. Future Emphasis Goal 1 2010-2011 2011-2012 Task 1.3.2 Create community service achievement awards in each school. Task 1.9.2 Students in grades 3-12 will apply a solid knowledge of history in their decision-making through the implementation of UBD methodology.

  7. 2008-2009 Accomplishments Task 2.1.1 Continue implementing Character Counts into the Language Arts Curriculum. Task 2.1.4 Implement student-led conferences at the Middle School. Task 2.8.1 Counselors develop expertise in college counseling.

  8. 2009-2010 Task 2.3.6 Provide support for students to develop tolerance towards student differences. Future Emphasis 2010-2011 2011-2012 Task 2.7.1 Train teachers to implement differentiated instruction, providing activities that address different learning styles. Task 2.2.2 Implement a district-wide health and wellness day.

  10. 2008-2009 Accomplishments Task 3.2.1 Infuse Technology NJCCCS into K-12 Curriculum. Task 3.4.2 Increase student access to infrastructure before and after school. (H.S. has implemented; Task not set for completion until 2014)

  13. 2008-2009 Accomplishments Task 4.1.3 Strengthen the implementation of the District Bullying Policy through “Good Character” literature in exemplars. Task 4.6.8 Purchase and use appropriate media and assistive technology for special needs students. Task 4.6.2 Enhance displays that reflect diversity awareness.

  14. 2009-2010 Task 4.7.1 Develop a model of classroom activities that support inclusion. Future Emphasis 2010-2011 2011-2012 Task 4.4.2 Develop a forum for the school community to voice reflective thoughts through book clubs, study groups, and health and wellness groups. Task 4.6.1 Utilization of appropriate media and assistive technology for Special Needs students.

  16. 2008-2009 Accomplishments Task 5.1.4 Encourage, develop, and maintain student recognition through two-way communication between the district and public. Task 5.2.2 Measure and predict proficiency through benchmark assessments. Task 5.2.10 Meet diverse student needs by using differentiated instructional strategies.

  17. 2009-2010 Task 5.8.3 Expand and enhance instruction in enrichment programs. Future Emphasis 2010-2011 2011-2012 Task 5.2.6 Increase the support of the inclusion model of teaching. Task 2.2.8 Increase instructional time at the kindergarten level.
