ECONOMY “Upper Austria is the leading state in Austria in terms of industry, exports and technology. • Around one quarter of industrial production and exports in Austria stem from this region. • Thus Upper Austria is considered to be one of the most modern and competitive industrial regions within Europe.”

  4. GEOGRAPHY • “Upper Austria is located at the heard of Europe. With Bavaria to the west and the Czech Republic to the north, Upper Austria lies on the Paris-Budapest west-east axis and the Malmo-Triest north-south axis. • The Danube as the main tourism and transport connection runs through the Inn- and Mühlviertel in the north of the state; with the famous Salzkammergut in the south and the capital Linz, Upper Austria offers highlights in tourism and culture.”

  5. CULTURE “Culture shapes the identity of Upper Austria. Culture, in all its variety, is experienced at all levels and in every region of the state. Caught between the conflicting priorities of tradition and innovation, it continues to develop further while preserving the cultural heritage of Upper Austria.” There are more than 50 museums in Upper Austria. The different theatres demonstrate the variety of cultural works in the state. To a large extent, cultural life in Upper Austria is driven by a grassroots movement: the state is home to approx. 250 galleries and artists’ ateliers, 15 groups of artists with 750 members, ten literature associations with 350 members, 40 music festivals boasting 65,000 visitors, 25 series of concerts with 40,000 visitors, 15 theatre festivals with 25,000 visitors, 80 culture clubs with 16,000 visitors, 500 music bands with 16,000 members and 250 choirs with 10,000 members

HISTORY • Austria before 1918 means the Habsburg Empire. • After Duke Frederick II died in 1246 and left no successor, Rudolf I of Habsburg gave the lands to his sons marking the beginning of the line of the Habsburgs. • The first reference to Oberösterreich appeared in 1264, discussing a region above the Enns River partitioned by King Ottokar II of Bohemia.

  7. NiklasHoheneder • Born on August,17, 1986 in Linz. He is 25 and he is 1,90 cm. he is a soccer player. He is not currently playing for national team, but he was a Defense - Centre Back (#23), for RB Leipzig, Regionalliga Nord (Germany).

  8. FOOD! Yay :D • Upper Austria is a province famous for its beer. For many years, in fact, the Upper Austrian Innviertel (the region near the River Inn) belonged to Bavaria. Beer soup is just as much a part of traditional fare in Upper Austria as it is in Salzburg. The normal type of liver dumpling soup popular all over Austria is served in a modified version in Upper Austria. There the dumplings are deep fried before they are added to the soup. • Upper Austria has its own version of the deep- fried doughnut, often referred to as a "Bauernkrapfen" ("farmer's doughnut"). In actual fact it has nothing to do with farmers; since the name only began to appear in cookery books after the beginning of the 19th century it is more likely to have been invented, in a fit of nostalgia, by the authors of those books.
