  3. WHO can compete? Any Canadian or British subject or landed immigrant who holds: a valid Canadian Private Pilot Licence, or valid Commercial Pilot Licence, which has not been used for hire or reward within the previous 5 years from the month of the National Finals (August 2013).

  4. WHAT is the WebsterMemorial Trophy Competition? Webster is a national aviation competition which: - annually seeks to identify the “Top Amateur Pilot in Canada”; - is sponsored by AIR CANADA; and - is supported by numerous aviation companies and organizations including:

  8. WHERE is the competition held REGIONALLY? There are 9 Regions across the country, specifically: British Columbia including the Yukon Territory; Alberta including the Northwest Territories; Saskatchewan; Manitoba including Nunavut; Western Ontario; Central Ontario; Eastern Ontario; Quebec; and all of the Atlantic Provinces.

  9. WHERE is the competition held NATIONALLY? It is at a different location every year, for example: Ottawa, Ont. (2007) Moncton, N.B. (2008) Brampton, Ont. (2009) Calgary, Alb. (2010) Quebec City, Que (2011) Ottawa, Ont. (2012) Winnipeg, Man. (2013)

  10. WHY is this competitionbeing run? It is being run for many various reasons: To honour a Canadian aviator and a part of Canadian aviation history; To challenge pilots and encourage the improvement of their skills; To bring fun back into aviation for those who are looking for new pursuits; - and - Because the Canadian aviation industry believes it to be extremely worthwhile.

  11. WHEN can you apply for the Regional competition? Application forms and information packages are now available on the website at: webstertrophy.ca

  12. WHEN is the Nationalcompetition run? It takes place from August 20 - 24, 2013

  13. HOW do I compete? Apply to Webster – Fee of $25. (application forms are on the website at webstertrophy.ca) The deadline for applications is June 1, 2013 Wait for approval. Option#1 - If you have taken a Private or Commercial flight test between June 16, 2012 and June 15, 2013 you may submit a valid copy of your TC flight test report; - or - Option #2 - Take a Webster flight test with an authorized Pilot Examiner and submit that flight test report. Note: Flight test reports must be received no later than June 15, 2013. Only one (1) flight test report will be accepted – you choose.

  14. Early Bird Draw Any application received prior to May 1, 2013 will be included in the Webster Early Bird Draw. - For those eligible, the draw takes place on June 16th once all • flight test reports have been received. - Prizes are listed on the website.

  15. FINALIST INFORMATION After June 15, 2013, each of the nine (9) winners is selected by the highest point total in their region. Ties are determined by the highest marks awarded to priority exercises such as precautionary and forced landings.

  16. FINALIST INFORMATION The regional winners are notified and a package sent with follow-up guidance for the National Competition. AIR CANADA sponsors your flight from the closest airport they service to and from Ottawa. AIR CANADA sponsors your accommodations. AIR CANADA sponsors your banquet.

  17. FINALIST INFORMATION ALPA pays for your familiarization flight if needed and the two (2) competition flight tests. All other costs are the responsibility of the competitor.

  18. NATIONAL FINALS COMPETITION WEEK One (1) written examination in long-hand style, based on PPLwritten exam subjects and depth of knowledge and one (1)flight planning exercise Two (2) flight tests - one (1) airwork and one (1) in a Redbird simulator

PRIZES & AWARDS FINALISTS Seven finalists will each receive: - A Khaki Pilot watch donated by Hamilton Watches - A Webster plaque denoting their status as National Finalists - A $50 gift certificate donated by Aviation World, Toronto All finalists will each receive: - One heavy aircraft flight simulator session donated by CAE - One (1) year memberships to COPA; - One (1) year subscription to WINGS magazine; and - A personal SNOWBIRDS lithograph signed by the current team - An On-line Single Pilot Resource Management Training Module

PRIZES & AWARDSRUNNER-UP The runner-up will receive: - A Webster plaque indicating recipient of the Eunice Carter Memorial Cup - The runner-ups’s name is applied to the cup which resides at the Canada Aviation Museum - A ETO Pilot watch donated by Hamilton Watches - A noise-cancelling headset from Sennheiser (Canada) - A personalized pilot log-book from Aviation World (Toronto) - A framed print of John C Webster in his Curtiss-Rambler signed by the renowned Canadian artist Robert Bradford - A $50 gift certificate donated by Aviation World, Toronto

PRIZES & AWARDS WINNER Winner: - A Webster Commemorative Bronze Medallion - The winner’s name is applied to the trophy’s pedestal at the Canada Aviation Museum - Two (2) tickets anywhere in Canada, USA & Caribbean that AIR CANADA flies - An X-Wind aviator’s watch courtesy of Hamilton Watches ($1,600 value) - A professional development day with the Snowbirds - A cheque from ACPA - A cheque from the Collegiate Aviation Canada - A Certificate of Congratulations from ATAC - A framed print of John C Webster in his Curtiss-Rambler signed by the renowned Canadian artist, Robert Bradford - A $100 gift certificate donated by Aviation World, Toronto

SENNHEISER / WEBSTERSCHOLARSHIP - A $3,000 scholarship presented annually to the ATAC member Flight Training Unit which enters the greatest number of competitors - Sponsored by Sennheiser - The scholarship may be shared with up to four of the current year’s competitors toward their advanced training - The scholarship is presented at the ATAC Convention in November
